Straight answers to what Irish buyers ask most about the Redmi Note 17 series, based on the EU versions we sell. For prices and a model-by-model comparison, see our Redmi Note 17 series guide.
1. Why does the Irish Redmi Note 17 Pro Max have 9,210mAh, not 10,000mAh?
Because Ireland gets the European model. Xiaomi UK lists the European Pro Max at 9,210mAh; the 10,000mAh version is sold in India and some other markets. The Note 17 Pro is 8,340mAh here and 9,000mAh elsewhere.
The European model still leads the range: Xiaomi rates it for up to three days of moderate use. Importing the bigger-battery version means customs and VAT on arrival, a warranty you’d claim abroad and network bands built for another market.
2. Is the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max IP69K in Ireland?
No. Xiaomi rates the European Pro Max IP66/IP68, and the Note 17 Pro is IP66/IP68 too. IP69K, which covers hot high-pressure jets, applies to versions sold elsewhere. The Redmi Note 17 5G is IP65.
In practice IP68 still covers heavy rain and a drop in the sink. Xiaomi tested the Pro Max in 2m of fresh water for 72 hours. But water resistance wears over time, liquid damage isn’t covered by warranty, and you should never charge a wet phone.
3. Does the Redmi Note 17 come with a charger?
No. None of the three models includes a charger, only a USB-C cable, a protective case and a SIM tool. To get full charging speed, Xiaomi recommends these adapters:
| Model | Max charging speed | Recommended adapter |
|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 17 Pro Max | 100W | 100W PD adapter, or Xiaomi’s own 100W |
| Redmi Note 17 Pro | 67W | Xiaomi 67W or higher |
| Redmi Note 17 5G | 45W | 45W PD adapter, or Xiaomi’s own 45W |
Any USB-C PD charger you already own will work, just more slowly. Shop chargers and power banks.
4. Will the Redmi Note 17 work on Three, Vodafone and Eir?
Yes. Every Redmi Note 17 we sell is unlocked and works on Three, Vodafone, Eir, 48, GoMo and the other Irish networks. All three models support the 5G bands used here, including n78 and n28, plus 4G bands 3 and 20 for wide-area coverage. Whether you get 5G depends on your plan and local coverage.
5. Does the Redmi Note 17 support eSIM?
It depends on the model. The Pro Max takes two eSIMs, so you can keep your Irish number alongside a travel eSIM. The Pro supports one eSIM plus a physical SIM. The Redmi Note 17 5G has no eSIM. Check that your network offers eSIM on your plan before relying on it.
6. Does the Redmi Note 17 have Google apps?
Yes. European models ship with Google Play and Google services built in, including Gemini and Circle to Search, on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and Android 16. Phones made for the Chinese market don’t include Google services, which is one more reason to buy EU stock.
7. How long does the battery really last?
Xiaomi rates the Pro Max for up to three days, and the Pro and Note 17 5G for more than two. The EU energy label, a standardised test every phone sold in the EU must publish, gives these endurance figures:
| Model | EU label battery endurance | Rated charge cycles |
|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 17 Pro Max | 79h 16m | 1,000 |
| Redmi Note 17 Pro | 72h 01m | 1,000 |
| Redmi Note 17 5G | 68h 31m | 1,000 |
Real life depends on screen brightness, signal and what you use. Heavy gamers and navigators will see less.
8. Does the Redmi Note 17 have wireless charging?
No. All three models charge by cable only. The Pro Max and Pro can charge other devices by cable, at up to 27W and 22.5W respectively — handy for topping up earbuds or a friend’s phone.
9. Who handles the warranty if something goes wrong?
We do. mStore.ie is an authorised Xiaomi reseller, selling Xiaomi in Ireland since 2019 (formerly Xiaomi.ie). Every phone comes with a two-year warranty handled here in Ireland: contact us, send it back to us, and we sort the repair or replacement. There’s no posting it overseas.
10. How quickly can I get one, and can I spread the cost?
Orders placed before 2pm on a working day are shipped from our Irish warehouse for next-working-day delivery, free over €100. Pay by card, PayPal or Klarna instalments, and you have 14 days to change your mind.
