Redmi Note 17 Series in Ireland: Prices, Specs and Which One to Buy Leave a comment

Last updated: 28 September 2026

The Redmi Note 17 series is Xiaomi’s 2026 mid-range line, and this year it’s all about the battery: 7,700mAh in the Note 17 5G, 8,340mAh in the Note 17 Pro and 9,210mAh in the Note 17 Pro Max (EU versions). At mStore.ie the Pro Max starts at €495 and the Pro is €469.

Short version: for most people, the Pro Max is the one to buy. Here’s why, model by model.

No model includes a charger in the box. Xiaomi also sells a Redmi Note 17 4G with the same 6.99″ screen and 7,700mAh battery.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G: the one most people should buy

The Pro Max carries a 9,210mAh silicon-carbon battery, which Xiaomi rates for up to three days of moderate use. In GSMArena’s lab it scored 22 hours 31 minutes of active use, five hours more than the Pro. When it does run down, 100W HyperCharge refills it quickly.

It also gets the best of everything else in the range: the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, fast LPDDR5X memory, UFS 4.1 storage on both the 256GB and 512GB versions, and 4K video from both the front and rear cameras. The 32MP selfie camera, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision streaming, two eSIM slots, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 6.0 round it out. It’s certified by SGS to survive a 3m drop onto granite.

The honest trade-offs: at 225.1g it’s no lightweight, and there’s no wireless charging or telephoto lens. On the plus side, Xiaomi promises six years of security updates.

Xiaomi launched the 8GB+256GB model in Europe at €599.90. At mStore.ie it’s €495 — a saving of about €105. See the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G.

Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G: two-day battery, more storage for less

The Pro has an 8,340mAh battery that Xiaomi rates beyond two days, and 67W charging that reaches 50% in about 34 minutes. It shares the Pro Max’s 6.83″ 1.5K AMOLED screen, which peaks at 3,500 nits for reading in bright sun, plus Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and the same 3m drop certification.

Where it saves money: the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is a step down, the 50MP camera has a smaller sensor, and video tops out at 1080p at 30fps. You also get one eSIM rather than two, and Wi-Fi 5.

Ours is the 8GB+512GB model at €469, so it suits anyone who wants lots of storage and long battery life but rarely films video. See the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G.

Redmi Note 17 5G: the biggest screen for the least money

The Note 17 5G has the largest screen in the range, a 6.99″ FHD+ AMOLED, with a 7,700mAh battery and 45W charging. It’s the only model with a memory card slot, though a microSD card takes the place of the second SIM. Xiaomi promises six years of security updates, the same as the Pro Max.

The cuts are real, though: IP65 rather than IP68, a single 50MP camera without stabilisation, no eSIM and no gyroscope, which some games and AR apps need. It suits buyers who mostly watch, browse and message, and want a big screen that lasts. It’s coming soon to mStore.ie — ask us about stock.

What happened to the Redmi Note 16?

There isn’t one. Xiaomi skipped “16” for its flagship phones, and the Redmi Note line jumped from 15 to 17 to keep the numbering in step. The Redmi Note 17 is the direct successor to the Redmi Note 15 — see how they compare in Redmi Note 17 vs Redmi Note 15.

Why the Irish Pro Max has 9,210mAh, not 10,000mAh

The 10,000mAh figure in Xiaomi’s launch adverts applies to versions sold in India and some other markets. The European model has 9,210mAh and IP66/IP68 protection rather than IP69K. The Pro follows the same pattern: 8,340mAh in Europe, 9,000mAh elsewhere.

Chasing the bigger battery means importing a phone built for another market. The Indian model, for example, lacks 4G band 20 (800MHz), which Irish networks use for wide-area coverage. You’d also face customs and VAT on arrival, and a warranty you’d have to claim abroad. More in our Redmi Note 17 buying FAQ.

Which Redmi Note 17 should you buy?

  • Buy the Pro Max for the longest battery life, 4K video and the fastest chip. At €495 it costs only €26 more than the Pro. Pro vs Pro Max, compared.
  • Buy the Pro if you want 512GB of storage for under €470 and don’t need 4K video.
  • Buy the Note 17 5G if screen size and price matter most. Note 17 5G vs Note 17 Pro.
  • Consider the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ (from €395) if the camera matters more than battery life — its 200MP sensor is larger than anything in the Note 17 range.

Redmi Note 17 FAQ

When was the Redmi Note 17 series released?

Xiaomi announced the global Redmi Note 17 series on 27 August 2026, with sales starting the next day.

Does the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max come with a charger?

No. The box includes a USB-C cable, a protective case and a SIM tool, but no charger. For full 100W speed, Xiaomi recommends a 100W PD adapter or its own 100W adapter.

Does any Redmi Note 17 have wireless charging?

No. All three models charge by cable only.

Is the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max waterproof?

It’s water resistant, not waterproof. The EU model is rated IP66/IP68 and lab-tested in 2m of fresh water for 72 hours. Protection wears over time, and liquid damage isn’t covered by warranty.
