Where the Redmi Note 17 5G wins
Screen size. At 6.99″ it’s the biggest screen in the range, ideal for video and reading.
Expandable storage. It’s the only Note 17 with a microSD slot, handy for offline music and photo backups. The card replaces the second SIM, so you can’t have both.
Price. It’s the most affordable way into the Redmi Note 17 range.
Battery life isn’t a weakness either. Its EU label endurance of 68h 31m is only about three and a half hours short of the Pro’s.
Where the Redmi Note 17 Pro wins
Camera. Optical image stabilisation keeps low-light photos and handheld video steadier, and the Pro adds an 8MP ultra-wide for group shots and landscapes.
Toughness. IP68 means the Pro is tested for submersion; IP65 only covers jets of water. The Pro also has Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a 3m drop certification and an EU drop class of A against the Note 17 5G’s C.
Screen quality. Smaller, but sharper at 1.5K and nearly twice as bright at peak, so it’s easier to read outdoors.
eSIM and gyroscope. The Note 17 5G has neither. No gyroscope means motion controls in some games, Google Maps Live View and 360° photos won’t work.
Speed. The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and UFS 3.1 storage make everyday use snappier.
