Xiaomi Watch S series
Round face, metal case, and the closest thing in the range to a conventional watch you would wear to work. The longest battery figures of any Xiaomi wearable, multi-band positioning for accuracy in built-up areas, and a bright enough display to read in direct sun. This is the one to buy if the watch has to look right as well as track properly.

REDMI Watch series
The same core sensors and the same AMOLED technology in a lighter polymer case, usually rectangular, at a fraction of the price. You lose the metal finish and some of the positioning bands; you keep the GPS, the heart rate and blood oxygen sensors, and the sport modes. For most people starting out with a watch, this is the sensible buy.

Common questions
Which Xiaomi watch has the longest battery life?
The Xiaomi Watch S series quotes the longest figures in the range. Those numbers assume the always-on display is off and GPS is used sparingly — turn both on and expect considerably less. The individual product page carries the manufacturer figure for each model.
Can I run without carrying my phone?
Yes. Current Xiaomi and REDMI watches have positioning built into the watch, so the route, pace and distance are recorded on the watch itself and sync to Mi Fitness when you are back in range.
Can I swim with a Xiaomi watch?
Most models are rated 5ATM, which covers pool swimming and showering but not diving, hot water or high-pressure jets. Check the water resistance line on the product page before you get in.
Do Xiaomi watches take standard straps?
It depends on the model. Several use standard 20mm or 22mm lugs, which means any watch strap fits. Others use a proprietary quick-release fitting that needs a Xiaomi strap. The product page lists the fitting.
Will it work with my iPhone?
Yes, through the Mi Fitness app. Tracking, notifications and syncing all work; replying to messages from the wrist is Android-only, which is an Apple restriction rather than a Xiaomi one.
Is a watch worth it over a band?
If you train with GPS or want to act on notifications, yes. If you mainly want steps, sleep and heart rate, a band does the same job for less money and lasts longer between charges — compare the fitness bands before deciding.
