Xiaomi HyperOS 4
A fresh look, a quicker phone and smarter AI tools — the free system update coming to Xiaomi, REDMI and POCO phones and tablets bought from mStore.ie in Ireland.
A softer, livelier design
HyperOS 4 introduces a translucent “soft light glass” look, with light and shadow that react to what’s on screen and what your finger is doing.
Picks up ambient colour
Interface elements tint themselves to match your wallpaper and content, adding texture, lighting and a sense of depth.
Glow on tap
Buttons and controls light up when you touch them, so every press gets a clear visual response.
Light that follows your drag
Swipe or drag and a light trail moves with you, linking each transition into one smooth motion.
Glass that adapts
Panels change how see-through they are depending on what sits behind them, keeping text readable and layers tidy.
Smarter layouts
Lock screen styling
Resize the clock freely and pick from variable typefaces to make the lock screen your own.
Notification stacking
Alerts group into a neat stack; swipe up to flick through them.
Home screen folder resizing
Make folders bigger or smaller to organise your home screen the way you like (phones).
Widget stacking
Pile widgets on top of each other and swipe between them to save space.
Phone apps, built for one hand
Built-in apps are redesigned for smaller screens, with more room for content and a clearer layout.
Tablet apps, built for multitasking
On tablets, navigation can switch between a full-screen view and a productivity layout.
Smooth from first tap to end of day
Under the hood, HyperOS 4 reworks how your phone shares out power and memory, so apps open faster and stay smooth even after hours of use.
Precision Workload Scheduling
Monitors work across the whole system and tunes it precisely, so the task in front of you gets priority.
Memory Preloading
AI clears memory in advance and gets it ready for the apps you’re likely to open next.
Application Runtime Environment
Xiaomi’s own apps have been rebuilt to run more efficiently.

Instant mind mapping
Long, messy notes become a clear visual map in seconds.

Good to know: HyperOS 4 is a free over-the-air update from Xiaomi for global-version devices, including those sold by mStore.ie in Ireland. Check for it under Settings › About phone once it reaches your model.
Design effects such as soft light glass and interactive lighting depend on device hardware and may vary. Lock screen styling and widget stacking are on select models only; folder resizing is phone-only for now.
Performance figures are from Xiaomi Internal Labs, comparing HyperOS 4 with HyperOS 3 on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, averaged across repeated tests. Real-world results can differ.
Xiaomi HyperAI features (including AI Voice Notes, AI Speech Recognition, AI Translate Conversation and AI Gallery Search) are available on select models, languages and regions, need an internet connection, and AI output should be checked for accuracy. Post-quantum encryption currently covers main key delivery in end-to-end encrypted scenarios; cloud privacy computing is on select devices.
The release schedule is Xiaomi’s estimate and may change by region, network, model and development progress. Some widget styles arrive in a later update by end of November. Screens and features are subject to change by Xiaomi.
