Xiaomi 17T Pro vs Xiaomi 17 vs Xiaomi 17 Ultra: Which Should You Buy?

Xiaomi sells three flagship-class 17 series phones in Ireland: the Xiaomi 17T Pro, the Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. They overlap more than the names suggest, and the most expensive one isn’t the best choice for everyone. Here’s how they compare.

Quick verdict: the 17T Pro gives you the biggest battery and screen for the least money. The 17 is the one to get if you want a flagship that fits in one hand. The 17 Ultra is for people who want the best camera Xiaomi makes.

Performance: closer than you’d think

The Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra share Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The 17T Pro uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, also a top-tier 3nm flagship chip. In everyday use, apps, browsing, video and photos, you won’t feel a difference between them. Keen mobile gamers may lean towards the Snapdragon phones for their wider game optimisation, but all three are flagship-fast.

Battery life: the 17T Pro wins

The 17T Pro has the biggest battery here at 7000mAh, with 100W charging. The compact 17 still fits a 6330mAh battery, which is a lot for a 6.3-inch phone, also with 100W charging. The 17 Ultra has 6000mAh and 90W charging, because more of its body is given over to cameras. If you’re a heavy user who hates charging during the day, the 17T Pro is the pick.

Size: small, big or bigger

This is often the deciding factor. The Xiaomi 17 is the compact one at 6.3 inches, easy to use with one hand and to fit in a jeans pocket. The 17T Pro at 6.83 inches and the 17 Ultra at 6.9 inches are big-screen phones, better for video, reading and gaming.

Cameras: the Ultra is in a different league

All three carry Leica-tuned Summilux optics and take excellent photos. The 17 Ultra goes further, with Leica 50MP and 200MP cameras built for zoom, low light and detail. If photography is the main reason you’re upgrading, the Ultra justifies its price. If you mostly shoot everyday photos and video, the 17T Pro and 17 are more than good enough.
