Can You Buy the Xiaomi 17 Pro or 17 Pro Max in Ireland?
The short answer
No. The Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max were only released in China, and Xiaomi never launched a global version. You won’t find them from authorised sellers in Ireland or anywhere in Europe.
The good news: their successors, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, are getting a global launch, and mStore.ie will stock them in Ireland.
Why weren’t the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max sold in Europe?
Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 17 series in China with three models: the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. Only the standard Xiaomi 17 and later the Xiaomi 17 Ultra were released globally. The Pro and Pro Max, with their second screen on the back, stayed China-only.
Should you import a Chinese Xiaomi 17 Pro Max?
We’d advise against it. A China-market phone isn’t the same as a global model:
- Software: Chinese units run the China version of HyperOS, without Google Play or Google apps built in.
- Warranty: they usually aren’t covered by warranty in Ireland, so repairs can be slow and expensive.
- Network bands: some 4G and 5G bands used by Irish networks may not be fully supported.
- Import costs: VAT and customs charges can be added on delivery from outside the EU.
The global alternative: Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max
Xiaomi launched the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China in September 2026 and has confirmed the series will launch globally. They build on everything the 17 Pro Max offered:
- Two 200MP Leica cameras, including a 200MP periscope telephoto
- A privacy display built into the main screen
- The rear screen returns, now 2.9 inches on the Pro Max
- Up to 8,500mAh battery on the Pro Max (China version), up from 7,500mAh on the 17 Pro Max
- 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips
