It keeps the thing the range is known for — a 7700 mAh silicon-carbon battery rated for beyond two days of use and around 26 hours of video playback — and pairs it with the biggest screen in the family at 6.99″. Charging runs at 45W, and the battery is certified to hold 80% of its capacity after 1600 cycles, roughly six years of ordinary charging.
The display is a flat FHD+ AMOLED at 2396 × 1080, running up to 120Hz and peaking at 1800 nits, with TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light and circadian-friendly viewing. Behind it sits the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, a 4nm chip clocked to 2.3GHz — enough for messaging, streaming, maps and casual games, and not aimed at demanding titles. Xiaomi commits to six years of security updates, which is unusual at this price.
Two things separate it from the Pro models and are worth knowing before you buy. Protection is IP65 — splashes and rain, not submersion — and there is a single 50MP rear camera with no ultra-wide alongside it. In exchange you get something the Pro models don't have: a microSD slot taking cards up to 2TB.

Xiaomi's internal testing gives up to 2.54 days of moderate mixed use, or around 26 hours of video playback. Real results depend on screen brightness, signal strength and what you run. The battery is rated to keep at least 80% of its capacity after 1600 charge cycles, roughly six years of everyday charging.
Does the Redmi Note 17 5G come with a charger?
No. It comes with a USB Type-C cable only, along with a protective case and SIM eject tool. The phone supports 45W turbo charging, so any USB-C charger rated at 45W or above will give you the fastest speeds.
Is the Redmi Note 17 5G waterproof?
No — it is splash resistant. The IP65 rating covers dust and low-pressure water jets, which means rain, spills and a wet worktop are fine, but submersion is not. That resistance is certified under laboratory conditions, is not permanent, and degrades with wear and damage. Liquid damage outside the tested conditions is not covered by warranty, and you should never charge the phone while it is wet.
Can I use two SIMs and a microSD card at the same time?
No. The tray holds one dedicated SIM plus a hybrid slot that takes either a second SIM or a microSD card, so you choose between dual SIM and expandable storage. The microSD slot supports cards up to 2TB.
Does it support eSIM?
No. The Redmi Note 17 5G uses physical nano SIMs only. If you need eSIM, the Note 17 Pro supports one and the Note 17 Pro Max supports two.
Can it record 4K video?
No. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30fps on both the rear and front cameras. Stills come from a 50MP main sensor at f/1.8; there is no ultra-wide or telephoto lens on this model.
