7700 mAh and a 6.99-inch AMOLED, on 4G
The same big battery, 1800-nit screen and Gorilla® Glass 7i as the Note 17 5G, with a 2.9GHz Snapdragon® 6s 4G Gen 2 inside. Irish stock, Irish warranty.
Redmi Note 17 4G: the Note 17 essentials, without the 5G radio
If your phone spends its day on Wi-Fi and 4G, the Redmi Note 17 4G gives you everything the Note 17 range is bought for. The headline is the 7700 mAh silicon-carbon battery: Xiaomi rates it at up to 2.62 days of moderate use and 26 hours of video, and certifies it to keep 80% of its capacity after 1600 charge cycles — about six years of normal charging. It refills at 45W and can top up another device at up to 22.5W over a cable.
The screen is identical to the 5G model: a flat 6.99″ FHD+ AMOLED at 2396 × 1080, up to 120Hz, 1800 nits at peak, under Corning® Gorilla® Glass 7i. The difference is the chip. The Snapdragon® 6s 4G Gen 2 is a 6nm octa-core part that clocks up to 2.9GHz, paired with up to 8GB of RAM — plenty for messaging, streaming, maps, banking and casual games. It ships on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 with six years of security updates.
Know three things before you buy. It connects on 4G, not 5G. Protection is IP65 — rain and splashes, not submersion. And there is one 50MP rear camera, with no ultra-wide. On the plus side, the microSD slot takes cards up to 2TB, something the Pro models don’t offer.
Redmi Note 17 4G price and availability in Ireland
Every Redmi Note 17 4G we sell is EU-version stock shipped from our Irish warehouse by mStore.ie — not a grey import. The price you see includes Irish VAT, there is no customs bill on delivery, and the warranty is handled here in Ireland. Xiaomi makes this phone in several RAM and storage configurations; the ones we stock are listed in the options on this page.
More than two and a half days per charge
A silicon-carbon anode packs more charge into the same space than a graphite one, so 7700 mAh fits inside a phone 8.45 mm thick. Xiaomi’s moderate-use test — social apps, music, maps, email, streaming and standby — runs to 2.62 days, and the cell carries a TÜV SÜD 5-star battery performance certification.
| Typical capacity | 7700 mAh, silicon-carbon |
|---|---|
| Mixed use | Up to 2.62 days |
| Video playback | Up to 26 hours |
| Charging | 45W turbo charging over USB-C |
| Reverse charging | Up to 22.5W, wired |
| Rated lifespan | 1600 cycles at ≥ 80% capacity |
Gorilla® Glass 7i on the front, IP65 all round
The display sits under Corning® Gorilla® Glass 7i, which came through 3000 cycles of steel-wool scratch testing in Xiaomi’s labs. The IP65 rating keeps out dust and low-pressure jets of water, so rain and a spilled drink are fine; dropping it in the sink is not. Wet Touch Technology 2.0 keeps the touchscreen accurate when your fingers are wet or greasy.
- IP65 dust and water resistance
- Corning® Gorilla® Glass 7i cover glass
- 3000-cycle steel wool scratch test
- 28,000 micro drop tests and 300 roller tests
- 210,000 power button press tests
- Wet Touch Technology 2.0 for wet or greasy fingers
A 6.99-inch flat AMOLED you can read in sunlight
This is the largest screen in the Note 17 family, and it is flat rather than curved, which makes cases and screen protectors simpler. Peak brightness of 1800 nits keeps it legible outdoors, 4096 brightness steps let it dim smoothly for reading in bed, and TÜV Rheinland certifies it for low blue light and circadian-friendly viewing.

4G bands and connectivity in Ireland

Which Redmi Note 17 4G should you buy?
Every configuration uses the same chip and the same UFS 2.2 storage, so you are only choosing RAM and capacity — and the microSD slot means storage is easy to add later.
| 4GB + 128GB | The lowest-cost way in. Fine for calls, messaging and everyday apps, though with 4GB apps reload more often when you switch between them. |
|---|---|
| 4GB + 256GB | The same 4GB of RAM with double the space for photos, video and downloads. |
| 6GB + 128GB | A smoother multitasker than the 4GB models. Add a microSD card if 128GB gets tight. |
| 6GB + 256GB | The balanced choice — enough RAM for day-to-day multitasking and room for years of photos. |
| 8GB + 256GB | The pick for most people. The extra RAM keeps more apps open, and it’s the only version that extends to 16GB. |
Not every configuration is stocked in Ireland at all times. The variants available to order are shown in the options above.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Redmi Note 17 4G support 5G?
No. This model connects on 4G LTE, 3G and 2G only. If you want 5G, the Redmi Note 17 5G has the same battery, screen, camera and design with a 5G modem.
Will it work on Three, Vodafone and Eir?
Yes. It supports LTE bands 1, 3, 7, 8, 20 and 28, which include the 800MHz and 1800MHz bands that carry most 4G traffic in Ireland. Calls, texts and mobile data work on all three networks.
How long does the 7700 mAh battery last?
Xiaomi’s moderate-use test gives up to 2.62 days, or around 26 hours of continuous video playback. Your own figure will depend on screen brightness, signal strength and the apps you use. The battery is rated to keep at least 80% of its capacity after 1600 charge cycles, roughly six years of everyday charging.
Does the Redmi Note 17 4G come with a charger?
No. In the box you get a USB Type-C cable, a protective case and a SIM eject tool, but no charger. The phone supports 45W turbo charging, so a USB-C charger rated at 45W or more gives the fastest charge.
Is the Redmi Note 17 4G waterproof?
No — it is splash resistant. IP65 covers dust and low-pressure water jets, so rain and spills are fine, but it should not go underwater. The rating is certified under laboratory conditions, is not permanent and can weaken with wear or damage. Liquid damage outside the tested conditions is not covered by warranty, and you should never charge the phone while it is wet.
Can I use two SIMs and a microSD card at the same time?
No. The tray has one dedicated SIM slot and one hybrid slot that takes either a second SIM or a microSD card, so it’s dual SIM or extra storage. Cards up to 2TB are supported.
Does it support eSIM?
No. eSIM isn’t listed in Xiaomi’s specifications for the Redmi Note 17 4G, so plan on physical nano SIMs. If you need eSIM, the Note 17 Pro supports one and the Note 17 Pro Max supports two.
Can it record 4K video?
No. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30fps on both the rear and front cameras. Photos come from a 50MP main sensor at f/1.8; there is no ultra-wide or telephoto lens on this model.
Does it have NFC for contactless payments?
Yes. Multifunctional NFC is built in, so Google Wallet and contactless payments work as normal. There is also an infrared blaster for controlling TVs and air conditioners.
How long will it get software updates?
Xiaomi commits to six years of security updates and describes a 48-month like-new software experience. It ships on Xiaomi HyperOS 3, with Google Gemini and Circle to Search included.
Should I buy the Note 17 4G or the Note 17 5G?
Outside the chip and modem they are the same phone. Choose the 5G model if you want 5G speeds where coverage allows and a little more future-proofing. Choose the 4G model if 4G and Wi-Fi cover how you use your phone, or if you want one of the 4GB configurations.
