A simple, low-cost 4G phone that covers the basics
A 6.56″ 90Hz screen, a 5000 mAh battery, dual SIM plus a dedicated microSD slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Android 16 Go. Three colours, a case in the box. Irish stock, Irish warranty.
Ulefone Note 23: an easy, affordable everyday phone
The Ulefone Note 23 is an entry-level Android phone for calls, WhatsApp, browsing, maps and social media. It has a 6.56″ 90Hz screen, a 5000 mAh battery rated for up to 332 hours on standby, and Android 16 Go, Google’s lighter version of Android built for phones with less memory.
It is a practical choice as a first phone for a child, a straightforward phone for an older relative, a work or backup phone, or a second handset for travel. It takes two nano SIMs and a microSD card at the same time, keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack, and comes with a TPU case already in the box.
Know four things before you buy. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, so keep apps to the essentials and use a memory card for photos. The screen is HD+ (540 × 1210), not Full HD. Unlocking is by face unlock; Ulefone doesn’t list a fingerprint sensor. And there is no charger in the box, only a USB-A to USB-C cable.

Three colours
Cosmic Orange, Crafted Black and Deep Blue, each with a matte back panel and a large camera island.

6.56″ at 90Hz
The 6.56-inch water-drop display gives plenty of room for WhatsApp, YouTube, maps and large text. It runs at 90Hz, so scrolling through feeds and menus looks smoother than on the 60Hz screens many phones at this price still use.
Resolution is 540 × 1210 (HD+), which is fine for messaging and video but less sharp than a Full HD panel if you look closely at small text. Brightness reaches 400 nits, good indoors and in shade, and an oleophobic coating helps fingerprints wipe off.
| Size | 6.56″, water-drop notch |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 540 × 1210 (HD+) |
| Refresh rate | 90Hz |
| Brightness | Max 400 nits |
A two-tone back in three colours
The Note 23 measures 165 × 76.5 × 8.75 mm and weighs 191.5 g. The back has a raised camera island above a matte panel, which gives it a more modern look than most phones at this price and makes it easy to grip without sliding off a table.
Choose Cosmic Orange if you want it to stand out, Crafted Black for something discreet at work, or Deep Blue in between. A clear TPU case comes in the box, so the colour still shows through while the back and corners are protected from day one.
| Dimensions | 165 × 76.5 × 8.75 mm |
|---|---|
| Weight | 191.5 g |
| Colours | Cosmic Orange, Crafted Black, Deep Blue |
5000 mAh for a full day and more
The battery is 5000 mAh typical (4800 mAh rated). Ulefone rates it for up to 332 hours on standby and 22 hours of talk time, and combined with the HD+ screen and the light Android 16 Go system, a day of calls, messages and browsing should leave charge to spare.
Charging is 10W over USB-C, which is slow by today’s standards, so a full charge is best done overnight. There is no charger in the box; any USB phone charger you already own will work, and the box includes a 100cm USB-A to USB-C cable.
| Capacity | 5000 mAh (typ) / 4800 mAh (rated) |
|---|---|
| Standby | Up to 332 hours |
| Talk time | Up to 22 hours |
| Charging | 10W, USB Type-C, charger not included |
Unisoc T7100 octa-core
Inside is the Unisoc T7100 with eight Arm Cortex-A55 cores at up to 1.6GHz and a PowerVR GE8322 GPU. That is entry-level hardware: it handles calls, WhatsApp, email, YouTube, maps and simple games, but it is not built for demanding games or heavy multitasking.
Android 16 Go helps here, because its Go-edition apps use less memory and storage than the full versions. If you mainly need a dependable phone for messaging and calls, it will do the job; if you play 3D games or keep many apps open, a phone with more RAM will feel quicker.
- Unisoc T7100, 8× Cortex-A55 up to 1.6GHz
- Imagination PowerVR GE8322 GPU, 550MHz
- Android 16 Go for lighter apps
3GB + 32GB, with a 2TB card slot
The Note 23 has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Ulefone also lists up to 17GB of dynamic RAM, which borrows space from storage to keep more apps in the background, though it is slower than real memory. Part of the 32GB is taken by the system, so space for apps, photos and WhatsApp media is limited.
That makes the microSD slot important. Unlike many phones, the Note 23 has a separate slot for the card, so you can use two SIMs and a microSD card up to 2TB at once. A 64GB or 128GB card is cheap and moves photos, videos and music off the internal storage.
| RAM | 3GB, + up to 17GB dynamic RAM |
|---|---|
| Storage | 32GB |
| microSD | Up to 2TB, dedicated slot (card sold separately) |

8MP rear, 5MP front
The rear camera is 8MP with an f/2.0 lens and an LED flash, and records video at up to 1080p 30fps. In good light it takes clear photos for WhatsApp and social media, scans documents and reads QR codes; Google Lens is built in for translating signs and menus.
The 5MP front camera handles selfies and video calls, also recording at 1080p. Neither camera is a strength, and low-light shots will be soft, so if photography matters to you, look at the Redmi A5 and its 32MP camera instead. For calls and everyday snaps, the Note 23 is enough.
| Rear | 8MP, f/2.0, 4-element lens, LED flash |
|---|---|
| Front | 5MP, f/2.0 |
| Video | 1080p, 720p and 480p at 30fps |
| Modes | Panorama, Portrait, Pro, Time Lapse, Slow Motion, Google Lens |
Android 16 Go, with no ads
The Note 23 runs Android 16 Go, the edition of Android Google designs for phones with 3GB of RAM or less. It comes with lighter Go versions of Google’s apps, such as Gallery Go and Files by Google, which start faster and take less storage than the standard apps.
The system is close to stock Android with no advertising added, which keeps it simple for first-time smartphone users. Google Play is there for WhatsApp, banking apps and the rest, and Ulefone’s Service Center app gives access to manuals and support.
- Android 16 Go, pure Android with no ads
- Google Play and Go-edition Google apps
- Face unlock
Dual SIM 4G with Band 20
The Note 23 takes two nano SIMs, both able to use 4G at once, and supports VoLTE calls where your network offers it. It covers the LTE bands used in Ireland, including Band 3, Band 7 and Band 20, the 800MHz band that carries 4G coverage in rural areas and indoors.
Two SIMs suit anyone who keeps a work and personal number, or a local SIM when travelling. Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz only (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth is 4.2, so it won’t connect to 5GHz-only networks, but it works with home broadband routers, which broadcast 2.4GHz as well.
| 4G LTE | FDD B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/19/20/26/28A/28B/66; TDD B38/40/41 |
|---|---|
| SIM | Dual nano SIM, dual 4G, VoLTE |
| Wi-Fi | 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4GHz |
| Bluetooth | 4.2 |
| Location | GPS, GLONASS, Galileo |
A 3.5mm jack and a three-card tray
The Note 23 keeps a 3.5mm headphone jack, so wired earphones from an older phone or a car’s aux cable plug straight in with no adapter. Charging and data use a USB-C port, and the tray holds two nano SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time.
Ulefone’s lab testing covers 5,000 USB plug cycles and 100,000 button presses, which matters on a phone that may be passed down to a child or used every day on site. The clear case in the box adds protection for the corners and back.
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- USB 2.0 Type-C
- Nano SIM + nano SIM + microSD tray
- 5,000+ USB plug cycles in Ulefone lab tests
A case and screen film already fitted
A protective film comes pre-installed on the screen, and a TPU case is in the box, made for the Note 23 so it fits the camera island and buttons. That saves buying a case separately, which on a budget phone can add a noticeable share of the price.
The clear case keeps the colour visible and softens knocks from drops onto a table or floor. Together with the film, the phone is ready to use straight out of the box. The only thing missing is a wall charger, so check you have a USB plug at home.
- TPU phone case included
- Protective film pre-installed
- USB-A to USB-C cable (100cm) included
- Charger not included

Frequently asked questions
Does the Note 23 work on Irish networks?
Yes. It supports the main LTE bands used in Ireland, including Band 3 (1800MHz), Band 7 (2600MHz) and Band 20 (800MHz), and VoLTE where your network offers it. It is unlocked, so any Irish SIM works.
Does it come with a charger?
No. The box has the phone, a TPU case, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a SIM needle and the paperwork, with a screen film already fitted. It charges at 10W, so any USB phone charger works.
Can I use two SIMs and a memory card at once?
Yes. The tray holds two nano SIMs and a microSD card up to 2TB at the same time, so you don’t have to give up a SIM to add storage.
Is 32GB of storage enough?
For calls, WhatsApp and a handful of apps, yes, but part of the 32GB is used by the system. Add a microSD card for photos, videos and music, and turn on WhatsApp’s option to save media to the card.
Does it have a fingerprint sensor?
Ulefone lists face unlock only, with no fingerprint sensor. You can also use a PIN, pattern or password. If you want a fingerprint sensor at a similar price, look at the Redmi A5.
Does it have a headphone jack?
Yes, a 3.5mm headphone jack, so wired earphones plug straight in. Bluetooth 4.2 works with wireless earbuds too.
Will WhatsApp and banking apps work?
Yes. Android 16 Go includes the Google Play Store, so you can install WhatsApp, banking apps, maps and other everyday apps. Very demanding games may run slowly on this hardware.
Is it a good first phone for a child?
It is a sensible choice: it is low-cost, comes with a case, has a long standby time, and Android’s Family Link parental controls work on it. Set it up with a Google account for your child to manage apps and screen time.
Does it work on 5GHz Wi-Fi?
No. Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz only. Home routers in Ireland broadcast 2.4GHz as well as 5GHz, so it connects normally at home.
Who handles the warranty?
mStore.ie does, here in Ireland. If something goes wrong, contact us and we will arrange the repair or replacement without you having to send the phone abroad.
